Assignment Work Breakdown

Hi,

I need to calculate the work distribution on a day by day basis.
i.e. I have an assignment split over a week. I need to view the hours
per day just like the Resource Usage View.

I need the saved data that has not yet been published. Thus using the
View tables is out.
I tried using the Timephased_Data table but how the data is
stored/calculated from that is very confusing!

Can someone explain just how the hours for an assignment are broken
down by day? And if this is codeable from a query standpoint?

Apparently this can be done using SQL Reporting Services?

Can anyone point me in the right direction on approaching this?
