Good morning. I have been trying to solve a problem for a couple of days now. Your suggestions are appreciated...
The environment uses Novel for file access and printer sharing. They are not using Activie Directory or even NDS for that matter. I have installed Project Server on one server and SQL Server on a second. Project Server allows anonymous access through IIS and I am using Project Server user accounts - not windows authentication. I understand the security implications here. I will not try to get the OLAP/Analysis services or SharePoint Team Services operational given this environment. I have professional installed on desktops (and had to upgrade to MDAC 2.8 to get them going by the way). I have made connectivity and Professional seems to be functioning fine.
I have added resources to the enterprise resource pool and allowed this process to create project server users for me. I create a project plan and add tasks and assign them to enterprise resources. When I save the project plan I do get a spooler error but I have noticed in this group that my error is common among people using non-trusted servers in a non-authenticated environment as I am. The project plan does save (despite the error) and can be retrieved just fine. I am prepared to ignore the error but wanted to mention it in case it helps.
If I setup the resource workgroup as email, the resources are sent email notifications of their new assignments when I publish or republish assignments. Thus I assume that the SMTP server is setup fine. (It is a Lotus Notes email server by the way.)
If I make the resource a part of the project server workgroup and go into the WEB timesheet and create a new task using the WEB and use update - the project manager is sent a notice about the new task. If the project manager accepts the new task it is successfully added to the project plan. Thus basic communication between the task worker and the manager through the web interface is functional.
However, with the resources set to project server workgroup, when I publish or republish assignments as the manager, the assignments do not show up in the resource time sheet and notifications are not sent to the resource email. I have tried every variation that I can think of and have searched the support boards extensively.
Any suggestions of configuration items to check? Any logs to examine? Any support articles that you can think of to help? Any additional tests to perform?
