Assistance appreciated, need to alter nonprofit database form

Hi,
I just began work as a program coordinator for a local nonprofit organization.
They have a database that a college student created two years ago, which
allows them to maintain a running list of items that have been loaned to
clients via the library. Apparently, when an individual item is inputted
under a client's name, there isn't a way to have the information that is
specific to the individual (basically, a running list, like a shopping cart)
be placed somewhere so that it can be accessed (almost like an invoice). We
can print a list of all the individuals who have items checked out, but no
way to make a depository for items that a single client has taken out. Also,
when one item is inputted for a client, the program reverts back to the main
screen. The information is saved, but the user has to go back through the
menu tree to input another item, even if it is for the same person. Are there
ways to correct this program so that it is more user friendly? I have tried
to contact the student who created the program, however I have been unable to
find them. I have limited understanding of Access, although i'm fairly
proficient with computers and Microsoft programs such as Word, Publisher,
Excel and Frontpage. If anyone is able to help us, we'd greatly appreciate
anything you can offer. Thank you!!!

It sounds like a fairly small project for someone who's been using Access.
If you don't have that background, is there a chance you could get another
college student to help out?

Hi Jeff,
I can certainly try to do so. My only concern was the fact that its now the
holiday season and also, i'm in the midst of getting settled in my position
and thought I might ask on this forum because its seemingly a simple problem
and we just needed guidance. There are some physical challenges for the
individual who is working with the database, and I was hoping I could make
the work a little easier.

If you don't get anyone to bite, I'll volunteer. I consider myself at the
'Intermediate' level striving to learn more, and do so by helping others
online, a Project Mgmt database I'm revamping , a few personal database
projects, and then learning Access/SQL at work. Striving for MCP.

If offer accepted, my email is below. When you have time, annotate in as
much detail as possible what is desired to be changed/added, and send the .
MDB (ZIP archive). Is this a standalone installation (one PC - no server
connection)? On your reply I can send screenshots of databases I'm working
on.

Happy Thanksgiving,

John

Now that someone else has volunteered, I feel safe in adding my name to the
list.

Seriously, if John decides he can't help you, please give me a holler and I
will take a look at your database and your requirements. With luck, I can
work on this sometime during my Christmas break (Last week of December).

Hey buffalopc2000,

Offer still stands (see previous msg for email). To give you an idea of the
applications I have worked with, check out atlab.com -- my employer. A
tracking application for analysis and results reporting of samples, and alot
more... It is written in Access with a Front-End and data stored on a Back-
End SQL Server. I am, admittingly, an Access/SQL Addict who is always
learning... :)

Happy Holidays,

John
