Attach a date stamp for a file

How do I rename a file to it's original name but with a date stamp? -
am not familiar with VB. Is there any other way to do that, say fro
dos

Click once on the file (or right-click on the file and select rename),
press F2 function key and type your new file name such as:

filename20070205.doc

Make sure you have the extension after the file name so that windows can
recognise the file and program associated with it. For excel the
extension is: .xls
