attach .url

I was an OE user and had no trouble e-mailing website links to people. Now
I'm in Outlook 2003 instead and it categorically refuses to approve any .url
attachments. When I override and send the message with attachment anyway, I
get a policy violation message back from Symantec (which I always have been
running).

Is there any way to get around Outlook 2003's refusal to allow direct
e-mailing of .url links from websites?

Also, am I getting reported to the Microsoft or ISP or any other police when
these policy violation messages come to me from my own protection system on
my own computer? (I'm just a tad paranoid...)

Thanks.

Stop being so paranoid - no, no one knows you are getting these policy
violations.

You'll need to disable whatever it is in Symantec that is throwing up the
policy violation, assuming it's not a corporate account and your admin put
it there for a reason.

The preferred method to send urls is as text links - there is an app you can
use called Mailto_URL that works great. Or you can edit the registry to
unblock URLs in Outlook. See
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm for ways to unblock the
attachments and for more information on the security features, see
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup.htm. Mailto_URL can be found at
slipstick.com as well.

You'll need to reconfigure the Symantec product that is complaining.
