Attachment cause Word error

Hi:

I am having problems saving word documents. The documents are
attachments from email messages. I double click the attachment to open
them in word and then if necessary I save as to save the document. This
causes the word title bar to flash and then after a long delay
(sometimes I have to min word then restore word) the saveas dialog box
opens.

Is this normal for word? Is there any setting I can change?

I know I can save the attachment first and then open it later in word.
This works fine but I would like to know why word is having so much
trouble if the document is opened before saving it.

I have office 2000 and use outlook for mail

If you're using Symantec/Norton AntiVirus, try disabling the Office
Plugin that comes with it, but don't disable Norton AutoProtect. See

Thanks for the reply. Now I have a decision to make. Do I disable NAV
checking on Word documents or use the work-around? Hmmm?
