Attachment issues

We have created infopath forms which have attachment controls. When user
uploads attachments (which are sometime > 4MB) , the form takes lot of time
to get submitted and also it takes time when user tries to open it.

How can this issue be resolved?

Attachments are stored as base64 encoded strings in an InfoPath form. 4MB is
quite a lot of data to store in a form, which explains the time to save/open
the form. Perhaps you could find a way to store those files outside of the
InfoPath form and then include a link or reference to the files from within
the InfoPath form?
