Attachment problems (recieving)

when recieving e-mails with attachments in outlook when I
try to open them I get an error msg saying "file folders
are not
known on the registry" or "unknown file folders etc etc".
I can open the attachments If I right click and save them
but I don't want to have to save evry attachment to my
dick just to view it!!! Is this something to with file
associations or how the msg was sent (rich text, html etc)
