Are you using Outlook or Outlook Express? Which version?

I have the same problem. I've got a brandy new system, came with Outlook
Express 6.

In Outlook Express do the following
1.. Click on the Tools menu, then Options.
2.. In the Options dialogue select the Security tab.
3.. Untick the "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could
potentially be a virus" option.
4.. Press the Apply button.
5.. Click OK.
6.. Restart Outlook Express.
You should be able to open attachments now
