Attachments lost when sent

I am part of a fairly large company. We are using Outlook
2002 (Office 10). Whenever we send attachments to
colleagues via internet e-mail, the files are dropped from
the e-mail. The recipient isn't even advised that an
attachment existed.
Our company doesn't have an actual I.S. dept ... this
problem seems to me to be something that can be easily
solved.
Can anyone tell me what to look for and how to proceed ?

Are the recipients also using Outlook? If not, make sure you send to
them using Plain Text or HTML format, not Rich Text, which their mail
clients can't handle.
