Attachments sent as .dat file.

When I attach a document or Excel spreadsheet, they end up
as winmail.dat in the recipient's e-mail. I hope the
answer is out there somewhere and would appreciate
assistance.

Don't send the mail item in Richt Text Format. Use Plain Text or HTML
instead
