Attachments that appear to be corrupted

I have been trying to fix a problem that I have on two XP Pro systems with
Office Pro installed. I am running Outlook as my email program. When I send a
message with an attachment the person receiving the message can not open the
attachment. They get a message that the attachment has errors in it. THis is
true for .exl, .doc, .pdf, .ppt. I believe the problem is in the option
setting within Outlook. I have elliminated my ISP provider because I can sent
the same attachments when I use a WEB based email ( Adelphia's WEB mail
system). The issue is within OUtlook 2003. I did not have this problem when I
was using Windows 98 2nd edition and Office 2000 with Outlook.
I need some troubleshooting assistance.

Try sending in plain text format, not rich text or HTML. Also try disabling
Word as email editor if the former suggestion doesn't help.

Do you have an AV set for scanning outgoing mail? Try turning it off to see
if the problem abates.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.
