Attempted to insert duplicate

Hi All,

I keep on receiving this error on some projects. We have applied the
resolution stated by Microsoft for this error but without success. We still
receive this error. Can someone please help me with another solution than
the one given by Microsoft.

Hi Jacques,
I'm afraid you'll have to provide much more detail if you want anyone to try
and help. Try reading your post again, without the context you already have,
and you'll begin to see that you haven't given us much to go on.

Hi Ben,

Sorry for this. The error I receive is 0x80040e14. I have done what
Microsoft suggested in their solution but without any success. I have
checked the service packs and the Project server 2003 is on Service pack 2a.
My client is getting frustrated with this. It does not happen on all the
projects. It only happens on certain projects. I need to find another
solution to this as soon as possible. I hope that this is sufficient
information.

Regards,

Jacques

Hi Jacques,
Duplicate what? Is it a task, resource, issue. Is this in project pro, PWA?

Jacques:

Save the project asn XML file off the server
Delete the project from the server
Import the XML project back to the server
If you're using 2003 - Collaborate - Publish - Republish selecting to
overwrite actual work on the timesheet.
If you're using 2007 - File - Publish

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the guidance. Do I use STSADM.exe to export or how should I do
it?

Ben,

When looking at the event viewer, part of the error that you receive is
attempted to insert duplicate. This message is received as part of the
0x80040e14 error. My main problem here is the 0x80040e14 error and not as
much the duplicate insertion. I was not very clear in my first post.
Part of the error:

Component: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server
Description:
Attempted to insert duplicate PROJ_ID
(334), PROJ_TIMESTAMP (D707050005000B000C002F0034000000), IN
MSP_WEB_PROJECTS

I hope this clear up a bit of confusion.

Regards,
Jacques

Hi Gary,
I am Jacques Client.
We cannot delete the project from the server as we have Risks, Issues and
All our SPS documentation under Documents attached to this Project.
Last time I deleted a project all data was lost and we had to recover from
back-up. The recovery was such a mission that we canned the recovery and
loaded what we had on the servers. Natually we lost the RISK and ISSUES
totally.

Deleting a project from Project Server does not necessarily delete the
Risks and Issues. If you specify that Project Server should delete the
associated SharePoint site, it will, but otherwise, the sharepoint
site will live on. If you note the link to the sharepoint site, you
can associate that sharepoint site with the new project and risks and
issues will be preserved.

I know this is a quick explanation. Let me know if I need to clarify.
