Auditing functions hushed

I received an EXCEL file from someone and, when I open it,
most of the functions on the auditing toolbar (trace
dependents, etc) are all hushed for every cell. I thought
that, maybe, the workbook or sheet was protected but it is
not. What else could be prevenbting my access to these
features?

Do you have more than one worksheet selected? (check the Title Bar for
the word [Group] after the file name)

she acknowledged that it was Objects under tools>options>general that was
unchecked in another post with the subject
