authentication issue in Proj Srv 2003

Hi all,

some users get 505 error in IE or are asked to enter their login/pass when
accessing PWA. Other users trying MS Project Prof. wait endlessly for the
connection with the server (sometimes helps clicking cancel and trying once
again). I'm the admin on Win 2003 Srv hosting Project Server and have never
such issues. The machine seems working correctly all the time for me
(however also have some issues with Ms Proj Proff connection on my
workstation, which works in turn perfectly well for me from other
workstation - in different subnet). Looks like adding complaining users to
admins group also helps, but I didn't verify it in detail so far.

Of course we are talking here only about all users which should have access
to the content (having correct settings on Ms Project Srv).

The machine hosting the Project Srv (with also WSS installed) is most of the
time idle (this is 4 core 3GHz CPU with 2 GB RAM). This machine is remote,
ping takes about 200ms. People are getting nervous that they cannot access
their project most of the time...

Pls help with this... Where should I search for reasons: in network or WINS
servers (however their admins says they're fine) ?

thx,
bidzis

I have noticed one more thing today. Since there is at least one machine
where PWA and MS Project works fine in the network, I asked complaining
users to try from this machine. And they were successfull there. Just after
that also they were successfully authenticated to access Project Server
resources from their machines... So strange.. All machines work in the
domain and also Project Server is set to domain authentication.
