Authentication Problems

G

Gary Wardell

Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion.

I thought I had done that, but I did it again and now it works. Maybe I had
left the browser open before and it was using and old cookie? Don't know.
But now that one user works.

So, does the NT authentication require a domain user account?

Does it have to be a Win2K domain or can it be a NT4 domain?

I gather the password has to be 8 characters, regardless.

Gary:

NT and Active Directory domains are supported. You can determine the minimum
password length by setting it from the Admin menu > Manage Security > Users
Authentication.

Then what might I be missing?

I still get the error: You have entered an incorrect user name/password
combination. (5002)

When it's set to Windows Authentication.

When using Project Server Authentication it's fine, now.

Right click the Virtual Directory [ProjectServer is the name] and go to
Properties.
Choose Directory Security tab.
Click on Edit under anonymous access and authentication control.
On the window which pops up, select the Integrated Authentication checkbox
and
Select the Domain by clicking on the Edt button to define the Domain name.

If u want NT Challenge on, choosed Basic Authentication instead of
Integrated Authentication.

And I think using SSL is mandatory for Windows Authentication; though I am
not 100% sure. If u could try out just the above, and tell me if it works
without SSL, that would be great !

Looked there, it's set.

The error I'm getting is not from IIS, it's from Project Server.

If both the settings are done, and u have SSL on too, and still have
problems, then I am stumped.

If the problem is when accessing through professional, u may have to correct
your Account settings to Windows Authentication as well as set the URL to
use http's', if SSL is on. And change the URL in the Options-Colloborate tab
too

If the problem is when accessing through PWA, have the User settings been
changed back to Windows Authentication ?

Right now I'm just trying through PWA.

Yes, the user settings are changes back.

Maybe we'll just use PS authentication, that seems to work, but it's
annoying that NT doesn't.

For NT login, make sure you are being prompted for credentials, and
not entering them in the Project Server login form.

To ensure this:
Goto IE-Tools - Internet Options.
Unser Security Tab, click Custom Level for Trusted Sites.
Scroll all the way to the bottom, and ensure you are prompted for
login.
