Author vs. Created By

What is the difference in office docs between the attributes - "Author" and
"Created By"

Thanks,

S

Steven Du

Dear Partner,

To answer your question, the "Created By" attribute refers to the user who
creates the document file. The "Author" attribute is for the person who
writes the article stored in the document file. Please understand that the
creator of the file and the author of the article may not be the same
person.

If there is any unclear, please feel free to let me know.

Thanks Steven.

But if Author is the person that writes the article. How is author decided
if multiple people work on it. Then modified by is the last person, but would
the author change if a second person would edit the file?

Dear Partner,

Generally speaking, if other people just edit the document without changing
the file properties including the Author attribute, the Author attribute of
the document will not change. If you have further questions, please describe
detailed symptom for me or let me know which Office application (Word 2007
or Excel 2007) you have concerns about.

Have a nice day.

Regards,

Steven Du

Can you find my some links from MS that define the difference between the two

This concerns all OFFICE DOCS -

Dear Partner,

After searching in our internal database, I am unable to find an article
about the difference between the "Author" and "Created by" attributes. As I
explained in the previous posts, the "Created By" attribute refers to the
user who creates the document file and the "Author" attribute is for the
person who writes the article stored in the document file. In the meantime,
the Author attribute of the document will not change unless we change it
manually.

If there are further questions, please let me know the detailed symptom or
issues you encounter so that I can perform further research.

Have a nice day.

Steven Du
