Is there any way to have the default auto-archive settings apply to newly
created folders?
For example, I setup auto-archiving for a group of users the way I want it
to work. All goes well until the users create new folders to store their
messages. Those new folders default to NO auto-archiving. Isn't there some
way to have those new folders inherit the default auto-archive settings
instead of nothing?
We use Outlook 2K3 with a remote Exchange Server. I do not have control
over the Exchange Server. It is an outsourced service. Therefore, my goal
is to auto-archive the Exchange Server mailboxes to move older items to our
local network into the users' respective PST files. The problem is that my
users will create new folders in the Exchange Server mailbox and those
folders default to auto-archiving being turned off instead of using the
default settings.
I realize that I can go into the auto-archive settings and "Apply these
settings to all folders now" but there are a couple of problems with that.
First, I have to continually go back to each user and do that because they
won't and second, I use different settings for "Sent Items" than for the
rest of the folders because that folder grows so rapidly. Therefore, using
the "apply to all folders" button forces me to then go and change the
settings for the Sent Items folder.
There really should be another way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
