Auto-delete Junk doesn't work - they just go to Inbox

I'm sure this used to work. If I set my junk mail options to HIGH and tick
the box 'Permanantly delete suspected junk e-mail instead of moving it to
the Junk E-mail folder', all junk e-mails just go to Inbox and stay there.

If I untick the box and leave it on high, they are correctly moved to the
Junk E-mail folder.

Any reason for this strange behaviour?

Are you sure your Junk Mail Filter is ON? You still have to choose Low, High,
Safe on that same page when you also select permanently delete.

That article was for an Exchange Server. Is that what you have? Maybe it's a
safety feature. See if it works on Low instead.

I don't have Exchange Server but I can find no other relevant help file.

It would be very unlike Microsoft to put in a 'safety feature' but enable
you to select options that simply do not work. If it were safety when you
ticked 'Permanently delete', it would grey out Medium and High.

:) Of course I turned it on, D'oh! I'm no Simpson.

As I said in my post, "If I set my junk mail options to HIGH and tick
the box 'Permanantly delete suspected junk e-mail...". Hope that's clearer
now I've pasted it here.

Yay! I fixed it. Turns out Avast! Antivirus was conflicting with this
feature of Outlook. I must have customised some settings. When I turned
Avast! back to default settings for Outlook scanning and rebooted, the
feature started working. Hope this helps someone in the future... wooooooh!
