Auto Deleting Messages

Whenever I read a new mail message, it automatically
deletes itself, and is not listed in the deleted items
folder. The account was created with all the default
settings. Does anyone know if there could be a setting
that auto deletes messages that are marked as read?

It's most likely not deleted but you've got your view set to only display
Unread Mail. Set it to show all messages.
