Auto dial when opening Outlook

Hi. I am using Office 2003, Student / Teacher edition, running on Windows XP
Home platform with AMD XP2400+ etc.

I thought that when I set up my Office suite I had made Outlook
automatically dial my ISP and check for mail as soon as I launched it
(Outlook). However, it doesn't do that now and I can't find a way of
switching that on. is there a way for the application to do this or will I
have to resign myself to having to click the send/Receive button?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Configure an automatic Send/Receive interval.

If an interval is setup as suggested, will Outlook try to do a Send/Receive
when there is no dial-up internet connection? That is, if Outlook is used
off-line (assuming this is possible), hopefully, Outlook will not do a
Send/Receive and get an error because there is no internet connect.

I saw a post by Russ on 11/15 or so that answers my question. Apparently,
Outlook wasn't designed out dial-up users so it doesn't know the internet
connection status. Seems like a top-10 new feature request for dial-up
users. by the way, Outlook Express is nice in that it appears to recognize
you are not connected to the internet and asks if you want to work offline.

You failed to mention your Outlook version.
Most will dial up automatically if you set an automatic polling interval and
set your connection type to LAN.

The version of Outlook is 2003

Outlook 2003 will even dial up automatically when you designate IE dialer as
your connection type.
