Auto Forward Problem...

Hello...

Is there a way to set auto forwarding to an address not in the global list.
I 've tried creating a rule to do this ... but it's not working.

I would just like to check for mail from a specifc user and send any
that come in to [email protected]

thanks in advance...

Rules aren't the best way to do this anyway - see
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/MF015.html for a much more elegant
option on the server itself.

Otherwise you'd need to enable autoforward to the Internet on your Exchange
server - and as I said rules aren't the only option, nor the best, for this.

If using Exchange 2000 you will need to create a mail-enabled contact for
that email address then add that contact to as a Forward Adress under the
"Delivery Options" tab of the user who needs to have their messages forward
in ADUC. You can also hide the mail-enabled contact so that it doesn't show
in the GAL if you like.

Great...
Thanks for the reply.
I'm heading to read about the option you suggested.
When I went to active directory to set the forward from the user account, It
returned
account not found.... that's why I opted for the rule. I will try to find
out how to
enable autoforward to the Internet on your Exchange
as you suggested.
-thanks again...

Thanks Megan.....
I just finished doing that but still have not had the autoforward work as of
yet.
I'm looking for the place to enable autoforward to the Internet on our
Exchange as per
Lanwench's suggestion.
thanks again for the reply.....

To enable Autoforwarding of rules go to Exchange System Manager, under
Global Settings, click Internet Message Format then right-click Default and
go to Properties. Under the Advanced tab you can check "Allow automatic
forward" however, as Lanwench mentioned earlier, this is not the best idea.

Where? Did you set up the mail-enabled contact first?

Not necessary if you use the method described in the article.

Yes - and it isn't necessary to open this up at all on the server if you use
the delivery options method :)
