Auto Indents in bulleting/numbering

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) How do I stop Word from automatically indenting random lines that are bulleted/numbered?
The line will start where a sub-number/bullet ought to be, but with the number/bullet in the correct spot, if that makes sense...
Tt does this all the time, at random spots.

Like, it'll go like this:
1. somethingsomething
              a. blahblah
              b. blahblah
2. something something
3. something something
4. something something

{See a picture, it's as my profile picture.}

well, don't look at that example I wrote; that's what I want it to look like! haha. Check out the picture please!

{let's see if it'll work now...
1. somethingsomething
              a. blahblah
              b. blahblah
2. something something
3. something something
4. something something }

Sorry, but you'll have to be more verbally descriptive of what you want to
accomplish & how it's going wrong. Most responders here do not work through
the Mactopia web UI in the first place, & even though I did go to see what
you are referring to the image is too small to discern. Zooming in doesn't
help because the image becomes too blurry to read.
