auto opening spreadsheet

I don't know how I did this, probably pressed the wrong key at the wrong
time, but everytime I open excel on it's own or any excel spreadsheet it
opens another one (the same one every time).

How do I stop this spreadsheet from opening everytime?

You have probably inadvertently saved that particular workbook (or a
shortcut to it) in the "startup folder" or "alternative startup folder".
Take a look in Help for details, under "startup, folders".

yup, that was it. no idea how it got there though!
