How do I have an introductory page automatically
transition to a home page after a preset period of time?

Use a meta refresh tag in the head section of the opening page.

<meta HTTP-EQUIV="Refresh" Content="10; URL =nextpage.htm">

Will automatically open nextpage.htm in 10 seconds.
