Every other time i open word 2007, the autorecover features comes up. I close
it an it ALWAYS gives an error that it cannot find the file. I tried saving
the file and it says the same thing. I tried creating the file in the default
directory but it doesn't read it. I click close and proceed with my work but
the next time, it shows up again. It just won't go away. is there somewhere
I can stop it from showing up. I change the options under 'word icon' -> word
options - > save. but that didn't help. any thoughts, comments, ideas?

Go to Word Options | Advanced tab, scroll to the bottom of that dialog and
check in File Locations to see where AutoRecovery files are saved. Then go
to that location to see if the file that Auto\recovery keeps prompting
about. If it is there, delete it: if not, create an empty doc using EXACTLY
the same name and extension as the AutoRecovery file. Now open Word and this
time you should be able to kill it off.

Terry, I did create a file. On the default one, and in every directory that
was under the Word Options. It still can't find it. Its crazy and annoying. I
named it exactly as it is, both with .docx and .doc and it still prompts me
haha. anything else?

Try cleaning out the User Temp folder: this should be empty when all apps
are closed, so close all apps and delete everything - preferably after a
fresh reboot before anything is started up.

I have. I came close to fixing this problem by playing with Adobe add-in. But
i still happening. After removing the adobe add-in, the auto recover stops
prompting me, but then word has problem closing.

Hi i have the same problem Microsoft office 2003 AutoRecovery stuck in loop
pointing to files that dont exist and wants to start in save mode every
second startup.
I want to know if anyone has solved this yet??

1.I trid editing the reg removeing Resilency under word.
2.I tried creating new files (exact same name extension and dir)were office
claims them to be and them remove them with office.
3.I tried the obvious to save them or to del them using office Auto Recovery
tool.
