Auto Replies for specific email addresses in same exchange box

I have users at a company that have multiple email addresses in their
exchange box. IE a user john will have [email protected], [email protected]
and [email protected]

He wants to setup an auto reply so that whenever an email gets sent to
[email protected] it gets sent, BUT if an email gets sent to
[email protected] there is none.

I have tried to setup a client - side rule to no avail. I have
enabled autoreplies in the Exchange System Manager.

My rule looks like this in his outlook: If sent to "[email protected]"
send custom message "test".

This just never works. Any ideas?
