Auto text

CAPTGNVR

Dear all

I was trying to insert "Wishing you the best of health" in auto text entry
"closing line".

I went through the threads and MVP sites and found the solution.

But when I highlight the "Wishing you the best of health" and then keep
'shift' pressed and click on format tool bar, I do not find the 'closing
line' style, though I find so many others but none of the auto text styles
like attention line, closing line etc.

I have also reset the format toolbar.

What am I doing wrong or can anyone help me in adding into auto text closing
line or attention.

Okay, so you're trying to add an AutoText entry to the Closing collection.
The style you're looking for is called Closing (not "closing line"). If you
press Shift while clicking the arrow beside the Style dropdown, you should
see all styles listed, including Closing. As I think you've figured out, you
need to apply that style to your text before saving it as an AutoText entry.

If that still doesn't work for you, tell us which version of Word you have,
and we can give you specific instructions for another way to access the
style.

Thank you Suzanne and for being so prompt as always and so many threads I
have read shows ur involvement.

I got it figured it out thanks to your guidance and thanks.

The new trouble is the text "wishing u the best of health" when i select the
style "closing" it goes off to the center alignment. How to keep it as
'left-aligned'?

Thanks for the link Suzanne and I will go through immediately.

In the mean time, under the same auto text, I made a sub menu "legal" and
typed all the required legal terms; copied the normal.dot and took it to the
another computer and transferred it all to the other computer.

While I do find all items in autotext and also find the sub menu 'legal', I
dont get the full list when i change the style to 'legal' and click auto
text-- no entries are seen. When I click autotext and click auto text all
the entries are there.

So in short, what is the best way to transfer the custom made auto text sub
menu from one computer to another.

If the style and the AutoText entries are both saved in Normal.dot, that
should work. Alternatively, you can copy the entries from one template to
another using the Organizer (Tools | Templates and Add-ins | Organizer),
which has tabs for both styles and AutoText (you need to copy the style as
well).

ONCE AGAIN THANKS AND SORRY for not telling that I did use macro-organizer to
copy 'legal' style and then all the auto text entries. I also saved the
template. So when I click on the 'legal' style; click auto text, the ' legal'
sub menu is not shown but shows in the macro-organizr of the new computer.
On second thoughts I think the normal.dot from the old computer was
transferred by opening a document and then using the normal.dot in macro -
organzr.. Will check tomoro and revert.
