Autocomplete and how it works

I would like to know how Autocomplete or the suggested names list is maintained in the addressee lines of an outlook email. There does not seem to be a set pattern for the names in the list and I would like to know if there is any way to edit the list or remove unwanted entries from it?

You can't change the order. The order is "by last used" as it is a cache and
not an autocomplete

You can remove entries by using the cursor keys to select the address when
the list comes up. Then press DELETE
