Autocomplete

Can auto-complete only be used in conjuntion with a combo-box? Or is there
another way?

Hi,

If you have a column of entries such as

Fred
Adams
Chen

and you type C in the next row below Excel begins an auto compete which you
can keep by pressing enter or continue typing if you don't want the item.
However this is not true autocomplete because if your list has two items
beginning with C is will not show you those two items. When you have typed
enough to uniquely idemtify the match then the item is displayed.

Technically AutoComplete works in Excel 2007 when you type = and then a
letter. But this is really Function AutoComplete.

If you are looking for autocomplete in a dropdown list then ComboBox is only
way.

DV dropdowns do not support autocomplete.

But autocomplete will work without any type of dropdown if the values lie in
a contiguous range above or below the entry point.
