Autodiscovery and a wireless network

C

Chet Johnson

I am attempting to use the AutoDiscovery features to map
out and collect data for a wireless network. So far, this
has not been successful.

The information I get from the AutoDiscovery is less
useful than if I physically and manually create the
network diagram myself. That is of course, after I go
around to each device look up its attributes and plug in
the information.

Any suggestions???

you didn't say what was unsuccessful about your
autodiscovery so these are 'shots in the dark'.
a.) wireless is basically a contention based system like
ethernet so the base diagram would/should start with the
same premise (i.e. bus based)
b.) if your not getting device specific data from network
devices make sure snmp is on and configured for the
devices.
c.) for M$ windows snmp/wmi installed.
d.) watch out for firewalls that are set to filter snmp.
