Autofilter

The autofilter is excluding cells that contain data with 5 characters or
less. It doesn't matter if the data is a number or text.

I checked Tools, Options and there does not appear to be anything there
that limits the filter tool. Anyone have a suggestion to correct this?

Never heard of nor experienced this phenomenon so probably not much help from
me.

With no autofilter enabled you can see all the data?

The data is evenly dispersed throughout the range?

i.e. not all the <= 5 char cells are together

No blanks in the autofilter column?

Any behind the scenes VBA code that might interfere?

The data is a basic employee list (employee number, last name, first
name, etc.) in separate cells. No blank characters or zeros proceed the
numbers or text.

Problem was found when the Autofilter was turned on and the dropdown
for last name was selected. The user was trying to find Acker, but they
weren't listed in the autofilter dropdown. However, when using the Find
function, Acker was found.

If Autofilter limits the results to the first 1000, for instance, I
could accept that answer. But the last name in particular started with
A and well within the 1000 result range.

Autofilter does limit the drop-down to 1000 choices.

Does autofilter find other "A" names that are longer than 5 characters and come
after "Acker" alphabetically?

Does autofilter find numbers longer than 5 characters?

Debra Dalgleish has a lot of info on filtering at her site.
