"autofit body text to placeholder" not working in PPT 2007

Hi,

I'm using PPT 2007. For some reason, when I add a new slide, the text isn't
resizing when I reach the bottom of a slide. I've tried the obvious, that is:

1) I have "autofit body text to placeholder" checked in the Proofing tab of
the PowerPoint options dialog.
2) I'm typing in the regular body text area, not a text box.
3) I'm using the default template

Anything else you can think of to try?

Thanks for any ideas,

Gromit

See if this helps:
Place the mouse pointer exactly on the placeholder border and right click >
format shape

Then choose textbox > shrink text on overflow.

Thanks John,

That did the trick! Now, if only I could make this happen by default when I
insert a new slide...any ideas on that?

Much appreciated,
Gromit

I agree with Lucy but you could try making the change above on the relevant
master slides
