Automatially install LDAP on Outlook 2003 clients?

I hope someone can give me guidance here. I've recently rolled out
Office 2003 in my Server 2003 domain. I was disgusted to find that
while Outlook Express natively queries the Active Directory for email
address lookups, Outlook (which cost me a year's budget to roll out)
doesn't. Way to go, Bill.

I found that by configuring LDAP on my DC (and jumping backwards
through three flaming hoops)I can get it to work, but it requires that
several options be configured on client devices. I already spent days
going from desktop to desktop setting Outlook up for clueless users,
so I really don't want to have to go back just to add LDAP for
lookups.

Is there a way I can push out the service to all of my domain users? I
tried with some registry changes, but no luck there. Am I missing
something obvious that is worlds better? Please tell me this isn't as
bleak as it looks.

FYI, there is no Exchange server in play, so skip that as an
option. My users access an offsite POP server. I just document their
email addresses in AD for easy lookup by users without calling me.
Thanks for any help.

You might try looking at the Custom Install Wizard (part of the Office 2003
resource kit and available as a free download). It will let you make a
profile template that can add things like an LDAP address book.
