Automatic advance problem

I set up a ppt with "Advance slide" "Automatic after" specified time.
E.g., 00:16, 00:10, ,,,,etc. Each slide, of which there are 76, has its own
time to advance.

The slides DO NOT automatically advance after the specified time
IF THE GIVEN SLIDE INCLUDES THE INSERTION OF A SOUND FILE.
If I start the slideshow on a slide that DOES NOT include the insertion
of a sound file, then the slide will time out and advance to the next.
Advancing will continue until a slide is encountered that includes
the insertion of a sound file and then advancement ceases.

The intent is that the sound file continue to play until another
slide is reached that includes the insertion to start different
music. I.e., the insertion of a different wav file.

Am I missing something really fundamental here?

As an aside, on the slides that include the insertion of wav files,
there's a "speaker icon" that displays with the slide. How do I
get rid of that?

Thanks,
Bill

I set the "play for 16 slides" in the "Effects", but the show still
does not advance as specified.

The features I was wanting to use are not supported in PP2003, or at least
I couldn't find any such HELP to the contrary. Anyway, the problem was
that the PP show was in PP2003 format. As soon as I saved it to the PP2007
format and set up the "Effect" options, everything took off as expected.
