Automatic calculation failure

I'm having a problem with formula calculations not
happening automatically, despite having it set that way in
Tools/Options/Calculation. I tried F9, but nothing
happens. If I go to a cell that is wrong and double-click,
then Enter, the formula will calculate to the correct
value. I then have to do this in every cell with an
affected formula. Obviously, this is not a solution that I
can use on large spreadsheets and in workbooks of many
sheets. Has anyone ever seen this? What can be done to
either fix it for good, or at least work through in a
quicker, more efficient way? I appreciate any responses.

Hmmm, i have seen it before. Don't know the solution.
Try selecting everything and copy paste to a whole new workbook.
Save, and restart excel.

is this a specific formula (e.g. a VBA function?). Also try
CTRL+ALT+F9
to dorce a full recalculation
