Automatic closedown of PowerPoint show

Is there a setting that will allow me to run a show and automatically close
down PowerPoint when it finishes?

If you save as a powerpoint show *.pps (*.ppsx in 2007) it will do this if
you strat by double clicking the icon. You will need to scroll down in the
'save as type' box to find this option.

Didn't work...

I have exactly the same problem and saving the file as a PPS didn't work.
Any other suggestions?

When you saved it as a PPS, did you close it and open it again? When you
double-click on a PPS file it opens in Show View and exits PowerPoint
entirely when the show is done. However, if you open a PPS from within
PowerPoint, it opens in Normal/Edit View and returns to Normal/Edit View
after running the show.

What we need is the automatic closedown of the Powerpoint SHOW (* And I'm not
screaming; just emphasizing! :eek:) *)
Let me explain: I open a presentation from a Delphi application and don't
want the last message, in the black background, to be shown. I know I have
the option of returning to the first slide in a loop till ESC is pressed, but
that is not what I need either...
Any idea of how I could make the presentation stop after the last slide
without showing that unpleasant message?

That thing about "end of slide show, click to exit" is a machine-specific
setting. It can be turned off in Tools | Options | View | End with Black
Slide.

Ah. Thanks for being clearer. That last slide is dependent on the
settings on individual machines, not on the slide show itself. Go to the
Tools menu and choose Options. Click on the View tab and uncheck the box
for End With Black Slide. Unfortunately, this will only impact the way
you see every show on your computer, not how others will see this show on
theirs.

try creating a show in kiosk mode and having a full screen transparent shape
appear on the last slide with a mouseover end show action maybe

Worked! Well, that thing of invisible linking helped solve the problem! :eek:)
It's not exactly the way I'd like it to be, but it's much better now without
the black screen in the end.
