Automatic layout for inserted objects

Hi everyone,
PPT 2003 (Dutch version), Windows XP home edition, all updates and service
packs installed.
Starting with PPT 2002, when your insert a picture in an existing slide
Powerpoint adjust the layout to fit the incoming picture (which is I believe
standard behaviour). Very annoying most of the time, so I turn it off (like
most of those automatic helping hands : Tools - Autocorrect Options -
Autoformat as you type).

To my great astonishment this option doesn't work anymore in PPT 2003 even
when the checkbox is active. It just doesn't do anything. Do not complain
you will say, you just explained that you always turned it off in PPT 2002.
Yes, but it should work, and I need to show what it does to my students so
that they can choose for themselves if they want it or not.
Has anyone had the same problem in the English version, and if so is there a
cure?

To prevent the autolayout for inserted (and pasted) objects, you have to
go to Tools/Autocorrect and turn off "Automatic layout for inserted
objects."

To keep the textboxes from resizing your text and line spacing, you'd
turn off "autofit title text to placeholder" and "autofit body text to
placeholder."

This does work in the English version of PPT. Sorry, I don't know about
in the Dutch version -- it could be a bug in that version.

As for IBPete's thing with reformatting whatever he pastes, that could
be a different issue. It's hard to tell without more of a description of
what's happening. Under Tools/Options/Edit, turn "Show Paste Options
buttons." That gives you a little icon when you past text, and you can
choose to keep the source formatting or let PPT's formatting take over.
