Automatic linking between companies and contacts on import

I have customer data from a prior CRM system on two spreadsheets, one with
company information and one with all the contacts. I can successfully import
each one, but the contacts is of course not linked to any company.

Does anyone know how I can do an import, where contact and company linking
is preserved?

I have read this is possible to do programmatically, but Im not a programmer.

My customer will not buy this product unless this linking is intact, he does
not want to browse through all companies and manually add his 6000 contacts...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
