How do I e-mail a powerpoint slide show and have it automatically play when
recipient opens the file?

In PowerPoint, click File > Save As.
Under Save as type, select PowerPoint Show (.pps).

If the user does not have PowerPoint, you might want to consider converting
into .exe that contains a PowerPoint Viewer:

You might want to be careful in converting it to an EXE since many mail
servers (and outlook setups) do not accept .exe files. They might
consider it a virus of sorts.
