Automatic Row Heights

B

Brett

Is there any way to have Project automatically adjust row
height when the text exceeds the current column width? As
I see it, this has to be done automatically for each and
every line and that is a pain.

You can edit the table or create a new table and
automatically set the row height which in effect wraps
text in the cell.

Where is that set, Kevin? I can only select "Automatic" for the Headers in
Project 2002.

Go to View -> Tables -> More Tables, choose say Entry and
then the Edit Button. Select the Name (Task Name) if
task is selected or Resource name if resource radio
button is selected. Set the row height to another number
besides 1 (1-20) this stands for the number of text
rows. Obviously this depends on your column width as
well. This will wrapt the text in your cell on the table.

Yes, Kevin, but that's selectable it is not "automatic". It sets all the
rows to the selected height and not just those that need it.

Clarification of my original request...

Effectively, I want to know if Project has the same
feature as wrap text in Excel such that if the Task Name
column in Project is 40 characters wide and task one is 35
characters long it would automatically adjust the row
height to X, if task 2 has 60 characters, it would
automatically adjust the row height to 2X and if task 3
had 90 characters, it would automatically adjust the row
height to 3X, etc. It is a pain to adjust each row
manually.

Thanks...B

Well, that is better but it forces the project to be
longer than it needs to be. Said another way...

Effectively, I want to know if Project has the same
feature as wrap text in Excel such that if the Task Name
column is Project is 40 Characters wide and task one is 35
charcters long it would automatically adjust the row
height to X, if task 2 has 60 characters, it would

had 90 characters, it would automatically adjust the row
height to 3X, etc. It is a pain to adjust each row
manually and I don't each line to have a row height set to
the size of the longest text.

As I said before, Brett, I don't believe it can be done in Project.
However, if you post to the project development ng someone might provide a
vba solution.

Brett, I agree with Mike, that 'automatic' selection can't be done in
Project. The only way is to manually do it as he described. Sorry.
Excel has this feature and it's great, I guess Microsft didn't think
Projectors would need the function much...
