Automatic Updates wants to install Office 2003 SP3 on a Office 2007 site

R

Richard Lawson

This computer, 2003 Server with SQL 2005, Visual Studio 2005 and Office
Enterprise 2007, just had both hard drives low level formated after deleting
and creating the partitions. There should be no software history on the
drives. Everytime I do Automatic Updates, it wants to install Office 2003
Service Pack 3 plus Office 2007 Service Pack 2.

I keep denying the 2003 SP3 installation. Is this Abbey's brain?

Office Update offers updates for Office programs that you do not have
installed
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830335

You are unexpectedly offered Office 2003 Service Pack 3 when you use
Microsoft Update, Office Update, or Automatic Updates

Your response is inappropriate. None of the KB articles you reference addres
the problem as stated by Rich Lawson. In fact the first article ducks th
actual issues with MS update by suggesting that users apply updates for softwar
components they have either disabled or never installed. The second article i
for an entirely different set of issues that the one Rich initiated this threa
with. I suppose both you and the update software are at one since you ar
mimicing each other's errant behavior.
