Automating a Form and it's Tracking sheet

Hello,

I have a project that I have been working on and I need to try to
automate a few of the general tasks. I have not used Excel before and
do not know the limits or capabilities, so I am asking for some help.

I had to make an Excel spreadsheet "Service Request" form for people in
our "company" to fill out and submit back to us. My Boss would then
have to authorize it or not. Once it was authorized, my group would
then give it a sequential number and then save it to a shared file. The
general information, from the form, is then put into a separate
tracking worksheet. The number is also included on the tracking sheet
and is hyperlinked to the form on our shared drive.

My question is there a way to minimize the fat fingering and automate
this?
