AutoNum Legal starting at 2 (Word 97)

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why the
{AUTONUMLGL|e} field would be starting at 2 instead of 1?
I've had no problem before - just with this file. I have
gone through the previous paragraphs and can see no other
{AUTONUMLGL|e} before it. I've also updated it, but it
remains as 2, not 1.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thank you for the suggestion. I gave it a try, but there
is no hidden text anywhere.
I also tried deleting everything beforehand just to see if
it would start at 1, but no dice - still starts at 2.
I then copied it into a blank document, where it started
at 1. I copied back into the first file - back at 2 again!
Thanks for giving it a shot anyway.
