Autonumber is creating numbers that are not unique.

I have created a table with an autonumber as a PK. I added about 186 records
to this table by copying and pasting from an excel sheet. The autonumber
increased for each record automatically as expected.

However, I have now tried to add a new record and the autonumber has come up
as 3, which is not unique and then tells me so as it tries to save the
record. Any ideas please??

Thank you chris. Before receiving your reply I compacted and repaired the
database and it solved the problem. Thanks for the link, I will use that if
it happens again.

Does windows update automatically get the updates for access? If not where
do I get the service packs you mention? How would I check to see if they are
already installed?

Thanks for the links Chris, I checked and I have the latest updates, I am
running office 2007 on windows vista SP1. So I guess the issue still exists!
Alt least the repair and compact sorted the probem.

Thank you for your replies

Thanks Allen, I have SP1, i found it had been installed in the updates
installed list on windows update.

Thanks for the link to your site, I am in the 'others' scenario for sure.

I have a problem with a pop up modal form too, but i will start a new thread
about this, hop you might be able to look out for it.

Windows update doesn't automatically download updates for office applications.
Office update does that for Office XP and later.

Sorta. If you run Windows Update and switch to Microsoft Update then
that will also do the Office Update. Unless you're running Access
2003 runtime in which case you have to run Office Update to get those
updates or download and install SP3 yourself.
