AutoRecover

Using Office 2003. I have set the AutoRecover folder to C:\recover.
However, the temp file is created in whatecer folder the original file is in.
If the file is on the Desktop, that's where the recover file is created, the
same goes if the original ios on a network drive.
This is happening on PCs where I created the desktop configuration as well
as unmodified PCs straight from Gateway where I just installed Office and
left the default AutoRecover alone.
Why won't Office use the folder I have selected?

In Microsoft Word 2003 (and probably 2K & XP) there is an option t
change the default save location of documents. Do you have this set t
a network drive, such as one's home drive on a server? Tools | Option
| File Locations | Modify

There is a check box in the Tools | Options | Save tab [make local cop
of files stored on network or removable drives]. Do you have thi
checked? It may be the key.

Also, anytime I have experienced a problem where the file wa
autorecovered, it was found in the Documents and Settings for th
Windows user logged in.

Hope this helps. :
