AutoText (Where Did It Go?)

R

Rob

Hello All,

I am having trouble with AutoText. Every time I create a new entry, it
disappears when I close MSWord (or the file that I'm working in). Any
thoughts on this?

Forces a write to the normal.dot file for sure, and I presume the rest
of the "user configuration" files also. That's why I said "Try".

If you also have Adobe installed then more than likely their add-in,
PDFMaker, is discarding all changes to Normal.dot when you exit Word. The
choices for resolution is to uninstall the add-in (not Adobe itself) or use
Bob I's advice, whenever you make a change to Normal.dot, hold Shift, click
File, and then click Save All.

Save All only forces a save of all open and unsaved files, including
Normal.dot. Since AutoText is stored in Normal.dot, unless otherwise
specified, then using the Save All method should successfully force a save
of the changes. All other options, those stored in the Registry and other
files, are saved when you exit Word and there isn't another option to force
them to be saved while running Word.
