autotext

Have Win XP Home & Word Pro 2003. Was using autotext okay
and suddenly it no longer works. Autocomplete is still
ticked and it does work if I put in start of autotext and
press F3 but this is not okay because I have people's
addresses, etc. where the surnames are same or very
similar and if autocomplete does not show then I do not
know if I have the right one until it is up on the
screen. Frustrating because I type a lot of letters
every day.

If the initial characters are identical in two AutoText entries,
you'll have to type beyond those before you see the prompt.

I guess the best thing would be if Word could prompt you with a list
of all possible entries, but AutoComplete doesn't work like that
(unfortunately).

I have basically the same Win software, and Autotext goes off, too. I think
it is because I type fast enough and inadvertently hit keys that either
confuse or turn the feature off. Smart quotes stop working, or characters
turn into French and German letters.
I save my work, close Word, and reopen. That fixes it.
