Avery label numbers

Brenda

When reopening a saved document of labels, is there any
way to tell what Avery number was used? When I go to
Options, it seems always to list the label number I last
used instead of the number of the onscreen label. Am I
overlooking something simple? Thanks in advance for your
help.

Hi Brenda,

Sorry, no, Word doesn't store the Avery (or other manufacturer) number
in a label document -- it uses the selected format to create a table
of the right size, and after that it's like any other table.

But Avery's web site (www.avery.com) is very helpful. For example, the
list of all their white-paper inkjet label products is at
http://www.avery.com/us/Main?action=product.HierarchyList&node=10211246&catalogcode=WEB01
It shows the sizes of the labels and the number of labels per sheet,
so you can pick the one that matches your document.

Thanks a million, Jay. As usual, you always shed
whatever light there is on the subject.

Another suggestion for the future: when you save label documents, include
the label stock number in the Comments field of File | Properties so you'll
have it for reference later.
