BACK UP OF WEBSITE

Hi,

My PC crashed and had to be rebooted. Prior to this I was able to take a
backup of my website on an external harddisk. Now I want to do some changes
on my web site, but when I try to open my website locally, everything is
scrambled. Front page seems to have lost all the links, even to the page
formatting. What has happened? Do I need to redo everything? I even tried
to download the existing site from my hosts, however Front Page didn't seem
to recognize that either. How do you recommend taking back up of websites in
the future.

Regards

Kari Anne

Always use File Publish (from your remote site if it has the FP SE) or your local site in FP

Obviously I'm a newbie - I'm worried that by publishing the existing site wil
be ruined.

Maybe there is something I don't understand here.

Obioulsy I'm a newbie - and I'm worried that when publishing my current site
will be just as "wrecked" as the one I have locally. Maybe there is
something here I don't understand. Can somebody explain this a bit more
explicitly?

Publishing a site from one place to another does not "ruin" a site
- copying it or importing it does

Open your good online site in FP
File open Site/Web
File Publish and select a new destination such as: C:\MySiteBackup

Thanks a lot! Will try this. Will I then be able to edit this web in the
new destination?

Yes, and you can Publish the changes back.
